"2012 Ends With A Sad Note For Indians" - Sunil Sonkar, Editor: Asia Pacific News
"I am deeply distressed by the unfortunate demise of the 23-year-old girl who passed away early this morning in Singapore. She was a brave and courageous girl who fought till the very last minute for her dignity and her life. She is a true hero and symbolises the best in Indian youth and women." - President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee
"I want to tell them and the nation that while she may have lost her battle for life, it is up to us all to ensure that her death will not not have been in vain." - Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh
"The family is shattered by this development. At the same time, they realised that best possible medical attention was given. And in the end it was the scale of injuries that proved too much for the medical attention provided to her." - Indian High Commissioner in Singapore, T C A Raghavan

An utter and horrible shame. My heart goes to this girl and all others who are physically or emotionally harmed. Where is the humanity in people. Why are we so cruel.
I'm not in favor of the death penalty or life imprisonment or 10 years in prison for the perps; all of those are too nice. I'm in favor of public castration -- in the town square -- for each of these men... by victims of rape. Unfortunately their victim can't do it to them, but other women can.
Prof.Jai Prakash Sharma, Jaipur, India
If the death of this brave girl, the victim of a gang rape, helps change the conditions women have had to endure for centuries in India, and leads to better sensitisation of the criminal justice enforcement system, her death, though unwarranted, would have served a much desired societal cause of gender justice, hitherto denied to the better half of humanity.

Atleats in the next life let her have all good things in life. What else we can pray? And for such henious criminals "eye for eye", "head for head" has to be the law. They have to be erased for the society.

What makes India think that any female tourist would even begin to consider coming to that Country? What absolute horror!
